Lights On Afterschool 2019
Afterschool deserves to be celebrated!
Did you know that after going to afterschool programs:
- 68% of students improve their homework completion and class participation
- 60% of students improve their classroom behavior
- 1 in 2 students improve their math and reading scores*
On October 24, 2019 more than 10,000 communities and 1 million Americans celebrated afterschool programs during this year's Lights on Afterschool. This nationwide event organized by the Afterschool Alliance, calls attention to the importance of afterschool programs and the resources required to keep the lights on and the doors open. WINGS is proud to have participated again this year and see Lights on Afterschool as an opportunity to connect further with parents, school staff, and in-school teachers about what happens in WINGS and the role social emotional learning has in our culture and curriculum. One WINGS program hosted a parent painting party - take a look!
